Seriously Simple

Living in Upstate NY can be dreary this time of year.  It feels like I wear black and brown….all the time. It's so depressing.

But there's this sweater.  It reminds me of Easter.

And in January, what do I want more than anything… spring, flowers, chirping birds, color.

One thing I didn't like about it though...

The buttons.

I mean, how can I wear a green sweater with brown buttons and black pants?

It just didn't work for me.

So I changed the buttons while watching old reruns of The Cosby Show...just a few Miner adjustments and it was seriously simple.

{Random thought: Didn't the Huxtable's make parenting look super easy? I mean, why wouldn't everyone get dressed up to flush a goldfish at a fish funeral?}

Steps for a simple switch out…

What you need:
·        New buttons of your choosing
·        Seam ripper or scissors
·        Needle
·        Thread

{One}
Button up the sweater. I felt like this helped keep the buttons lined up.

{Two}
Cut one button off at a time.

{Three}
Place the new button in the place of the old button

{Four}
Sew it on.

{Five}
Repeat Steps one through four all the way down the sweater.

My choice of buttons isn't flashy, but now it all works.

And as Cliff Huxtable said in the very first episode...

"Don't worry about it. Just cheer".

  1. Very cute idea. I have at least five sweaters in my closet that could use an update!

    1. Thank you, thank you, Pam! I say go for it. I wear this sweater so much more now that I changed the buttons. And you are so right...the suitcase rocks!

  3. I really like the new buttons better. I think wearing black and brown is Rut we find ourselves in. I mean other people wear color this time of year... why not us :) I wanted to let you know that I changed my URL, long story, I'd love if you would stop by and follow me there. Thanks Trina! Have a great day.
