The Great Debate of the 1990's
Recipe: Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Trifle
There is an age old debate.
It has been talked about for decades.
This debate is very heated....one that draws clear lines between sides even though both sides can be argued equally.
What is this debate, you ask?
Should Dylan pick Brenda or Kelly?
source unknown (my apologies to the person who put this together) |
There are good points for both choices.
Brenda has that beautiful hair and really fabulous parents.
She wants to be a rebel, but her morals hold her back.
However, Kelly is the epic California girl with great fashion sense.
She has all the freedom every teenager wants, but her conscience leads her (mostly) in the right direction.
Some may even say that Dylan just wanted his trifle and eat it too. {See what I did there?}
You can see the dilemma.
So let's take a break and ponder this debate while making a Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Trifle, shall we?
{We used this recipe care of How Sweet It Is}.
1 box of brownies made, cooled, and cut into bite sized pieces
1 large box (5-ounce) of instant chocolate pudding, made and chilled
1 bag of peanut butter cups, chopped...we didn't use the whole bag
2 cups heavy cream
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 cup of creamy peanut butter
1 cup of powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
8 ounces of whipped cream cheese, at room temperature
Steps:
With an electric mixer beat heavy cream and sugar on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.
Put whipped cream in the fridge until ready to use.
In another bowl mix peanut butter and cream cheese on medium speed. Scrape down the sides occasionally until the mixture is creamy.
Then add in the powdered sugar and mix until it is combined.
Next, add in 2 tablespoons of milk.
Take the whipped cream out of the fridge and add 1 cup of it to the peanut butter mixture.
Fold it until the color becomes lighter.
Using a trifle dish layer the ingredients in any way you’d like.
Layers we created:
Brownies
Pudding
Whipped cream
Peanut Butter Cups
Repeat until you reach the top of the dish.
That recipe is easier than deciding whose side of the debate you are on.
And we all know who Dylan eventually picks. He knew it since he was in grade school. True story.
But here's a little twist...
Who should Kelly really pick...Dylan or Brenda's twin brother, Brandon?
This is a whole new debate...one that is also equally as heated.
And no matter what side you are on...
No matter who you rooted for...
One thing is for sure...
This dessert will always be the first choice. It's that good!
This is who Kelly chose {at one point}.

Don't you just love a juicy story?
Enjoy the trifle!

PS…My mom actually made this wonderful dessert. I got the fun job of writing about it. And she waited so patiently for me to take pictures.
PPS...In the early years I always rooted for Dylan and Brenda.
PPPS (jeez)...Then I grew up, became wiser and rooted for Kelly and Dylan. It just doesn't make sense any other way.
What do you think?

Wow! This dessert looks decadent and delicious! BTW, I remember when I used to get together with friends every week to watch 90210!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was so good! Way too many calories. I was in high school when it first started so I would watch it with my friend on the phone. Ha!
